Community
programs

Our community mediation programs reflect our commitment to accessibility and inclusion. We care deeply about offering everyone an inclusive and inspiring experience by taking concrete steps to facilitate access to culture.

We are delighted to work with community organizations that support French learners and people with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Through these partnerships, we can offer inspiring experiences that are accessible to everyone, regardless of their specific needs.

As part of a cultural mediation project led by artist Félix Tremblay, we gave Grade 4 and 5 students at Saint-Yves elementary school the opportunity to work with the Arche de la Capitale-Nationale. The initiative taught them about difference and allowed them to explore new forms of creativity together.

At the Musée, community involvement comes in many forms. In this case, students from Cardinal-Roy high school and seniors from diverse backgrounds from the Carrefour d’action interculturelle took part in an intergenerational and intercultural encounter involving art. It was an invitation to step into each other’s shoes to gain a better understanding of one another. The project resulted in a quilt and an art collection, but most importantly, participants were able to have fun and forge ties.

Presented as part of the Us exhibition from October 2023 to June 2024, this project is the result of our collaboration with the Vincent et moi program. Twelve artists in the program created their own self-portrait based on a photograph. In the gallery, each portrait was accompanied by a voiceover of the artist explaining their creative process and the importance of artistic practice in their life.

In summer 2024, participants from the Arche de la Capitale-Nationale took part in a cultural mediation project designed and led by artists Alexandre Berthier and Débora Flor. While listening to a soundtrack, participants were invited to draw on coloured fabrics, which they then wore for a photo shoot. The goal was to foster a sense of fun while promoting self-expression through drawing, physical movement, and photography.

Fééries mécaniques is the evocative result of a cultural mediation project that was held in summer 2023. Inspired by the Alexander McQueen: Art Meets Fashion exhibition at the Musée, the tableaux vivants created with participants from the Arche de la Capitale-Nationale feature unusual characters developed during physical theatre and dance exploration and improvisation workshops with Entr’actes.

In partnership with community organizations, participants discover the rich creativity of the artists in our collection through tours of the Musée. This collaboration with the Centre Louis-Jolliet, an education centre for immigrants and refugees, promotes communication, education, socialization, and discovery through art.

This video piece was created by Felippe Martin with guidance from Geneviève Duong, choreographer and contemporary dance teacher. Inspired by the works in our collection, this cultural mediation project was designed for and with participants from the Arche de la Capitale-Nationale.

Descriptive tours offer people with vision impairment the opportunity to experience our artwork thanks to an adapted approach that helps them create a mental image of the pieces. We regularly offer descriptive tours to the general public.

Artist Angela Marsh collaborated on this mediation project for seniors from Seigneurie de Salaberry and children from the Centre multiethnique de Québec. This rewarding experience gave participants the opportunity to interact with nature in the city and art as a universal language. It also helped seniors break the isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you’d like to collaborate with us or find out more about our initiatives, feel free to contact us. We’d be delighted to discuss how we can work together to provide inspiring and accessible experiences for your groups.
