Library, archives, and collections

Our Research Centre is closed indefinitely. As such, research assistance, on-site access to private archives and records on works and artists, and inter-library loans are unavailable until further notice. Thank you for your understanding

With thousands of titles in its document collections, the Musée’s library is a unique research space that specializes in Québec art.

The library’s collections include general works, exhibition catalogues, artists’ monographs, and audiovisual documents dedicated to Québec, Canadian, and international art.

The library also subscribes to numerous periodicals on art, design, and museology and receives catalogues from the major auction houses.

The MNBAQ’s document collections include some 13,000 biographical records, as well as records on Québec art museums, galleries, and associations.  Private archives and research holdings are also available for consultation.

The library is open to art specialists and university students by appointment. Archives are open to researchers only and may be consulted by appointment.
