For the first time in its history, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec has devoted an exhibition exclusively to Québec design and fine crafts from the late 1950s to the present day. It is the only one of its kind in the country. Share our passion for design as you explore the collection.

Six decades of history

The exhibition brings together some 150 objects created by artists who have left their mark on the past seven decades of Québec’s history. The pieces are displayed in a custom-built setting and are united by the exhibition’s central theme: the symbolism of the object. They are divided into three major thematic groupings, each illustrating the concerns and values of an era:

  • The arts community
  • Design, “king and master”
  • Image and language of the contemporary object

This exhibition invites you to draw on your memories and interests to interpret and enjoy these objects, which will almost certainly remind you of a piece of your own history.
