The Musée’s netiquette policy 

Your opinion is important to us. Feel free to ask a question about our institution or activities, express a point of view, or offer constructive criticism of our exhibitions and services. While we don’t systematically respond to every comment we receive, all your comments and posts are read attentively. 

 We manage our social media from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. During these hours only, we moderate our platforms to ensure that messages posted there follow our netiquette policy.

When posting on our social media, please follow the same rules of courtesy and respect as you would when speaking to someone in person.  

Each person posting on this page is responsible for their own words and actions, and individual statements do not necessarily have our endorsement. 

We encourage open but respectful discussions and exchanges of opinion. Dialogue and idea sharing are appreciated and encouraged on our platforms. However, some types of comments will be deleted without notice if they are made on our social media: 

• Defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic remarks 
• Violent, aggressive, abusive, insulting, vulgar, offensive, obscene, pornographic, or simply disgraceful, impolite, or crude language 
• Attacks or insults, whether they are directed at a user, the Musée, its head, or a member of its staff 
• Remarks involving any type of threat, intimidation, or harassment 
• Comments that contain personal or confidential information or are likely to infringe on anyone’s privacy 
• Comments that break the law or infringe copyright 
• Actual or veiled advertising or propaganda 

Messages that are posted repeatedly (copied and pasted) and comments that flout the codes of civilized digital conversation (excessive use of capital letters, vulgar use of emojis, degrading GIFs, etc.) will be deleted if the situation so requires. 

Incomprehensible statements and comments that deviate completely from the subject of the original post will be deleted if the situation so requires.

Overall, it’s important to maintain a respectful dialogue that benefits all users and doesn’t turn into a private debate. 

Remarks that break the law or incite a person to break the law (e.g., threats) may be passed on to relevant law enforcement without warning. 

Links to other websites are permitted if the content is relevant to the discussion or topic at hand. However, this does not mean that these third-party sites and their content have our endorsement. 

If you would like to post photos or videos on one of our online platforms, please make sure that the files are in the public domain and that you have the permission of their creator and the people who appear in them, if any. We cannot be held responsible for the circulation of these photos or videos. 

If a user violates the rules set out in this netiquette policy, their comment(s) may be deleted without notice. Repeated offences will result in a ban, meaning the user will be unable to access our social media. 

We follow and/or subscribe to accounts that are related to our mission or our institution’s areas of interest. Our decision to follow a user does not mean that they have our endorsement. 

Many of our employees have social media accounts. Despite their professional affiliation, their messages and positions do not represent the Musée’s official position and should be considered personal opinions.

If we have posted incorrect information about our institution or our activities on our accounts, we commit to correcting or removing it as quickly as possible. You can report it to us respectfully in a comment or private message.   

By posting content on our accounts (testimonials, etc.), you grant us the unlimited right to use, modify, and circulate it free of charge. You will not receive any payment. We cannot guarantee that your content will be posted or shared on our accounts. If we decide to do so, we may modify your content for size, length, clarity, or respect for the French language. 

We use French in our communications. However, as an international tourist attraction, our audience is not exclusively French-speaking. Given that, we can use English to respond to people who communicate with us in that language.  

Some requests, including those mentioned below, are not usually handled directly on our social media. We transfer them to the appropriate teams.
